Speaking at ICE London, Gordon Moody Association’s Gambling Therapy Manager Rob Mabbett, commended the Consumer Protection Zone (CPZ) for its efforts to enhance the awareness of research organizations involved in problem gambling, gambling education and therapy offered to individuals that are likely to experience gambling-related problems.

Following the close of the ICE event held between 5th and 7th February 2019, where CPZ sponsors including 888 Holdings; GVC Holdings Plc; ALEA; Kindred; Leo Vegas; Mr Green; and, Videoslots presented the Gordon Moody Association with a sum of £35,000. Rob Mabbett expressed Gordon Moody Association’s gratitude to ICE and particularly CPZ sponsors for their donation in appreciation of the organization’s efforts to support problem gamblers in various countries around the world including the UK.  According to the Gordon Moody Association Gambling Therapy Manager, the funds received would be used to enhance the organization’s existing communication infrastructure including the creating of new apps and websites. In his opinion, this would enable the organization to provide high-class service to more individuals.

Rob Mabbett mentioned that he had attended a past ICE London event when he was a manager of a betting store. However, he only got to really appreciate the role ICE plays when he attended the event while working with the charity organization. He acknowledged that ICE plays an important role in bringing together various industry stakeholders to discuss and eliminate misconceptions and prejudices. He also recognized that most stakeholders in the gaming industry support efforts by organizations like Gordon Moody. In this regard, he added that many businesses are now taking on social responsibility and including it in their organizational culture.  Moreover, the Therapy Gaming Manager mentioned that everyone should embrace the responsibility to help the few people in need of support get the assistance they so much need.

He concluded by saying that over the past few years, there has been a significant change in attitude among business operators that has resulted in huge collaborations on various social responsibility matters. Moreover, he said that ICE offers a great platform for charity organizations like Gordo Moody to interact with gambling operators and inform them of their prospects and objectives and this has largely contributed to the overwhelmingly positive attitude change.      

The Gordon Moody Association was established in 1971 and it is registered as a charity organization. For almost 50 years, the organization has been offering residential treatment and care to people suffering from severe gambling addiction. The Gordon Moody Association is the only organization in the United Kingdom that runs residential facilities that solely provide gambling support. Additionally, the organization offers online expert therapy services to problem gamblers; the service is also available as a mobile app for easy accessibility.

ICE London event held between 5th and 7th February 2019 at the Exhibition Centre London in the UK, only proved the event’s global popularity when it comes to B2B gaming. For the past seven consecutive years, the event has been recording a substantive increase in attendance and this year was no different with a 36,092 attendance record which represents an increase of 8% from the previous year.
